Buna or Buna-N Cord

Extruded buna cord is a copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile, also referred to as nitrile rubber (NBR). Buna cord exhibits excellent compression set resistance, and good tear and abrasion resistance. It is not suitable for applications requiring ozone, weather or heat aging resistance.

Used for Fuel and Oil Handling Hoses and Seals

Buna cord is resistant to petroleum and gasoline and performs exceptionally well over a wide range of temperatures making it one of the most widely used elastomers in the seal industry. It is essential for applications where oil resistance is critical such as O-rings used in the automotive and aeronautical industries.

Nitrile rubber is used in the automotive and aeronautical industry to make fuel and oil handling hoses, seals and grommets. It is also used to create molded goods, footwear, adhesives, sealants, sponge, expanded foams and floor mats. Its resilience or snap makes nitrile rubber a useful material for disposable lab, cleaning, and examination gloves.
